Donncha O Connor, having been a member of the Cork Senior Football Squad since 2006, has announced his retirement from inter-county football following Cork's qualifier defeat to Tyrone this afternoon.

Donncha made his Senior debut in 2006 against Dublin in the National League, having caught the eye of the Senior Management with his performance in the All-Ireland Junior Final and played in the Munster Championship against Limerick in 2006. No doubt the highlight of his glittering career was the 2010 All-Ireland Final victory over Down, but many will recall his performance against Dublin in the Semi-Final that year. All Duhallow Gaels will fondly remember the fantastic homecoming he was given by Ballydesmond GAA that year, when 'Sam' came to visit. Unfortunately he tasted defeat in two finals, 2007 and 2009.

In his thirteen seasons on the Cork panel, the following are the honours won by Donncha:

1 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (2010)

1 All-Ireland Junior Football Championship (2005)

4 National Football Leagues (Div 2, 09 and Div 1, 2010, 2011, & 2012)

4 Munster Senior Football Championships (2006, 2008, 2009 & 2012)

1 Munster Junior Football Championship (2005)

1 Inter-provincial medal (2008)

Best wishes to Donncha and thank you for your fantastic dedication to Cork GAA over many years.
