No separating Duarigle Gaels from Knocknagree

DUARIGLE Gaels and Knocknagree will meet again on Sunday(April 7) after the Central Stores, Kanturk Duhallow U21 BFC Final finished all square at Kiskeam.

Fortunes fluctuated over the hour, a pair of late points allowed holders Duarigle secure a draw.

From the outset, Knocknagree were much sharper, full of good football, creating openings with smart and slick interpassing play with Denis and Paul O’Connor pointing. The Gaels held plenty of possession but their lack of a scoring presence became apparent on a glut of faulty shooting to kick 10 wides, it took all of 25 minutes to open their first half account from centre back Shane Hickey.

However Knocknagree had the closing say to the initial spell, a David Twomey point helped secure a 0-6 to 0-1 advantage at the break. And Knocknagree wasted little time on consolidating their position on the restart, Denis O’Connor added a pair of pointed frees.

The Gaels began to warm to their task, in business, a great move allowed Darragh Cashman goal from close range. The initiative remained with Duarigle, follow up points earned a narrow lead.

Knocknagree responded in the best possible means, Paul O’Connor showed his composure to drill home a penalty.Duarigle refused to panic, points from Padraig Moynihan and Hickey ensured stalemate.
